Frequently Asked Questions

  • What is a pediatrician?

    • A Pediatrician is a health care provider who specializes in the care of infants, teens, and young adults. We provide preventative care for children in good health, and medical care for patients who are sick. Our team also provides parents with support and guidance pertaining to issues such as growth, development, and nutrition to encourage a lifetime of good health.

  • I am expecting a new baby. Should I see a doctor before I give birth?

    • It is not necessary, but we do recommend a prenatal visit. It is a great opportunity to meet with our physicians before delivery. Simply call our office to work out a time to stop by our office for a chat. We are happy to answer your questions. If you choose to work with one of our team of medical professionals, just give the doctor’s name to registration staff at the hospital when you preregister or when you go in to deliver. They will get in touch with us as soon as your little one is born.

  • What is the best way to schedule an appointment with your clinic?

    • You can request an appointment by calling our office or via the contact form on our contact us page.

  • How important is the newborn visit?

    • Very important. Our pediatrician will want to see your baby in the first week to ensure that everything is going well. They will observe your baby’s development, behavioral, and eating patterns; and conduct a physical examination to ensure that your newborn is in good health.

  • Which Insurance plans do you accept?

    • We take almost all major insurance policies and many of the smaller ones as well. We recommend you call our office to confirm specifics about your policy. Our Yakima Pediatricians aim to work with as much of the community as possible, so call us and tell us about your insurance policy. If we do not currently cover your plan, our team can find a way to accommodate you.

  • How often should my child see a doctor?

    • The AAP recommends the following schedule of routine visits: at 3-5 days, 1 month, 2 months, 4 months, 6 months, 9 months, 12 months, 15 months, 18 months, 24 months, 30 months, 3 years, and 4 years. After this, we recommend an annual checkup that includes a physical examination along with a behavioral, learning, and developmental assessment.

  • Is your office accepting new patients?

    • Yes, we are currently accepting new patients. Contact us for additional information or to schedule an appointment.

  • Will I always see the same physician?

    • Most of our patients see the same health care provider most of the time. There may be instances when your pediatrician of choice is not available, in which case you may schedule an appointment with one of our other doctors.

  • Can I get same day appointments?

    • Our staff works very hard to accommodate sick children with same day appointments. If your child is sick, call our office to check appointment availability. Physical exams need to be scheduled in advance to give your child enough time with the physician.

  • Do you accept walk-ins?

    • At this time, we no longer accept walk-ins. All visits require an appointment. Same day appointments can be available for sick children. Please call our office to schedule an appointment.

  • My child needs a specialist. Can you help?

    • Yes, referrals are managed on an individual basis. Some may call for a specialized scheduling and paperwork process, which we can take care of.

  • How do I get my prescription refilled?

    • You can start by calling your pharmacy. The pharmacist will contact our office for the required authorization.
